CIDG files raps vs. 'Poblacion Girl,' 8 others over skipped quarantine

The Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) on Tuesday lodged the complaint before the Makati Prosecutor's Office against the returning Filipino from US who did not undergo quarantine and eight other people.

According to Ian Cruz's "24 Oras" report, Gwyneth Chua, her parents, five hotel personnel and her boyfriend were cited in the complaint for violation of the IRR of RA 11332  or the Mandatory Reporting of Notifiable Diseases and Health Events of Public Health Concern Act.

Based on CCTV footage, Chua's father fetched her on Dec. 22 and was able to return to the hotel around 9 p.m. on December 25 with the help of her mom.

"Dapat nireport na po agad nila para macorrect natin agad para maquarantine si Ms. Gwyneth," said Police Colonel Randy Silvio, chief of CIDG-National Capital Region.

[They should've reported it so that Ms. Gwyneth would be under quarantine.]

Meanwhile, Silvio said Chua's alleged boyfriend was also with her at the Mijo restaurant on December 23. According to the CIDG, the boyfriend also had lapses because he knew that Chua needed to undergo quarantine.

"Nakapag extract po tayo ng CCTV with the help of our ACG personnel kaya nakita natin doon na magkasama sila. So meron pa rin siyang pagkukulang. Dapat alam niya si Ms. Gwyneth ay dapat naka quarantine kaya po sinama natin sa charges," said Silvio.

[We extracted CCTV with the help of our ACG personnel and we saw both of them together at the restaurant there so he also had a lapse. He must have known that Ms. Gwyneth needed to be under quarantine so we included him in the charges.]

Likewise, he said hotel personnel, who let Chua escape from quarantine, were also in the complaint.

The hotel personnel of Berjaya Hotel in Makati were:

  • Gladiolyn Biala, manager
  • Den Sabayo, assistant resident manager
  • Tito Arboleda, security manager
  • Esteban Gatbonton, security/ doorman
  • Hannah Araneta, front desk

Chua was dubbed as Poblacion girl after it was revealed that she not only skipped quarantine but also went to party at Poblacion, Makati. She also went to several restaurants, where staff members got infected with COVID-19.

The Berjaya Hotel in Makati apologized for letting Chua skip the quarantine, adding that it will hold accountable their staff who allowed her to leave the quarantine area.

According to the DOT, Chua already admitted that she did not check in at the hotel for the 5-day quarantine. —NB, GMA News
