NCR ADAR NOW 117.24%

COVID-19 surge 'accelerating, matured' in many cities —OCTA

COVID-19 average daily attack rate (ADAR) in the National Capital Region (NCR) has increased further to 117.24% from the previous 111.80%, according to OCTA Research on Friday.

Citing Department of Health (DOH) data, the independent research group said 17,069 new COVID-19 cases were recorded in NCR on January 13, the region's seven-day average at 16,599.

ADAR pertains to the incidence showing the average number of new cases in a period per 100,000 people.

NCR, which is under Alert Level 3, has been on "severe outbreak," OCTA said.

Elsewhere, OCTA fellow Dr. Guido David said the "surge" is in early stages in some parts of the country, while in many HUCS (highly urbanized cities), the surge is accelerating or matured."

David noted that ADAR is "very high" in the cities of Angeles (29.33), Baguio (52.52), Naga (28.01) and Santiago (26.89).

The following cities, meanwhile, recorded "high" ADAR on January 13: Cebu (10.96), Dagupan (24.81), Iloilo (18.23), Lapu-Lapu (18.18), Lucena (20.55), Olongapo (17.49) and Tacloban (12.53). —KBK, GMA News
