First day of 'no vax, no ride' in NCR went well —PNP
The first day of implementation of the “no vaccination, no ride” policy in public transportation in the National Capital Region went well on Monday, according to the Philippine National Police (PNP).
In a radio interview on Tuesday, PNP spokesperson Police Colonel Roderick Alba said no untoward incident were reported during the period.
“Nagpapasalamat tayo sa ating kababayan na naging maayos ang unang araw ng implementasyon [We thank the public for the smooth first day implementation of the no vaccination, no ride policy],” he said.
For this week, Alba said the PNP is enforcing the policy in a “warning phase,” adding they would fully enforce the policy next week.
Alba said the police are facing challenges in inspecting COVID-19 vaccination cards because the ones issued by local government units, especially those outside NCR, have different security features.
“Ito ay challenge din sa ating kapulisan because LGUs have different security features na nakalagay doon sa kanilang ini-issue na vaccination cards,” he said.

He added that the police are checking with neighboring LGUs to verify these vaccination cards.
Due to this, Alba encouraged LGUs to have uniform features on vaccination cards to make inspection easier.
On January 11, the Department of Transportation (DOTr) issued Department Order No. 2022-001 that limits access to public transportation in NCR only to fully vaccinated individuals while the region is under Alert Level 3 or higher. —KBK, GMA News
