NCR drops to moderate risk for COVID-19 — DOH

The risk classification of the National Capital Region (NCR) for COVID-19 has dropped to moderate from high risk, the Department of Health (DOH) said Friday.

NCR was classified at high risk on January 24.

“Bumababa na po nang husto ang ating mga kaso at nakarating na tayo sa moderate risk case classification,” Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire said at the Palace briefing.

Moderate risk means the average daily attack rate per 100,000 population is from one to seven while high risk means it is more than seven. Minimal risk means that the ADAR is less than one.

Vergeire said cases in NCR decreased by 67% with a seven-moving average of 4,398 from the previous 13,298.

Meanwhile, she said areas in the NCR Plus such as Rizal and Bulacan have also been classified at moderate risk for the virus.

However, Vergeire said the DOH has observed an uptrend in cases in the Visayas and Mindanao.

“Specific, talagang mataas ang kaso ngayon Region 7, Region 6, Region 11,” Vergeire said.

Vergeire also assured that most of the cases have mild to moderate symptoms.

“Nananatili na karamihan ay walang sintomas o mild at moderate na pwede gamutin sa bahay. Hindi hamak mas mababa ang bilang ng mga kaso na nagiging severe at critical ngayon,” she said.
