The Las Piñas City police have complaints against Kurt Matthew Teves, the son of Negros Oriental Rep. Arnolfo Teves Jr., for allegedly assaulting a BF Homes Parañaque security guard on March 16.

Kurt is facing raps for violation of the Omnibus Election Code, physical injuries, and grave threats for allegedly mauling village watchman Jomar Pajares after he was refused entry into the subdivision.

The complaints were filed at the prosecutor’s office on March 30.

“Matapos po sa fiscal, padadalahan sila ng reklamo o complaint at si Jomar Pajares, will be required to submit his reply affidavit," PNP Las Piñas Chief Police Lieutenant Colonel Jaime Santos explained on GTv’s dzBB Super Radyo Friday.

"Magsasagutan sila don. ‘Pag may probable cause, isasampa (ang mga kaso) sa court.”

(After filing complaints at the prosecutor's office, both parties will be sent copies of it. Jomar Pajares will be required to submit his reply affidavit. They will base their arguments on it and if probable cause is found, charges will be filed in court.)

Santos added that an Omnibus Election Code violation complaint was included because, based on Pajares’ sworn statement, the younger Teves was carrying a gun during the incident — an allegation his family earlier denied.

Section 261 of the Omnibus Election Code strictly prohibits the carrying of firearms outside residences and businesses during the campaign period. Violators could be punished with imprisonment of not less than one year but not more than six years and shall not be subject to probation. They will also be sentenced to disqualification from holding public office and deprivation of the right to vote.

Last week, Kurt formally apologized for his actions and resigned as a board member of the village association.

Santos said that the BF Federation of Homeowners Associations Inc. (BFFHAI) had custody of Pajares as he feared for his and his family’s safety.

If they are found to be liable, charges could also be filed against Kurt’s security detail.

“In the meantime, si Kurt Teves muna. Nakalagay naman sa documents na sinubmit namin na others may be presented later… Lahat pa ito ay ipo-proseso at masusing sisiyasatin ng fiscal na tumanggap ng reklamo,” he said.

(We filed complaints against Kurt Teves in the meantime. But it was specified in the documents that we submitted that others may be presented later. Everything will be processed and analyzed by the prosecutor that accepted the case.)
