NCRPO to deploy 11,000 cops for Holy Week


The National Capital Region Police Office will deploy 11,000 police officers during the observance of the Holy Week next week, its spokesperson Police Lieutenant Colonel Jenny Tecson said on Thursday.

At the Laging Handa public briefing, Tecson said the police personnel will be designated at churches, transportation hubs, and tourists destinations, among others.

“Ang NCRPO ay maglalatag ng higit kumulang na 11,000 na police dito sa ating nasasakupan upang mapanatili ang kaayusan at katahimikan,” she said.

(The NCRPO will deploy more or less 11,000 police here in our area to maintain order and peace.)

Tecson noted that incidents of robbery and theft in Metro Manila from January 26-March 1 period to March 2-April 5 period slightly increased by 7.2% and 4.17%, respectively.

Meanwhile, Philippine Coast Guard spokesperson Commodore Armand Balilo said they will be on heightened alert starting April 11 in light of the Holy Week.

“Bilang paghahanda, kami po ay magtataas ng alerto sa PCG, maghe-heightened alert kami mula ngayong Lunes para po sa paghahandang gagawin sa ating mga kababayan na nauuwi,” he said.

(As preparation, the PCG will be on heightened alert starting this Monday for the preparation for our countrymen who will go to their provinces.)

The Department of Transportation also issued hotlines to the public for aviation, road transport, railways, and maritime in light of the observance of Holy Week. — BM, GMA News
