Taguig building community centers for easier gov't service access

One of the 19 community centers was opened in Taguig City despite the COVID-19 pandemic so that government services will be easily accessed by the public.

The city government is eyeing to have a total of 19 community centers that will cater to the needs of the public. The first one, the Rockyside Community Center, was located in Barangay Bagumbayan.

"These infrastructure projects are proof that despite the pandemic, Taguig continues to log successes, which benefit our constituents in the short and the long run," Mayor Lino Cayetano said in a press statement.

The community center has a fully furnished common area and a lounge area for community groups, meetings, activities, events, and other functions.

The facility will also serve as a government satellite office wherein services of the City Hall, including issuance of burial and financial assistance, may be processed.

The city government said a child development center is also located there, which can serve as a daycare center for kids. Clean restrooms for men, women, and persons with disability are also available.

A court for sports activities can also be found in the community center.

To ensure security, police and barangay personnel have set up a station in the area.

Cayetano said city residents could expect more infrastructures with similar features that will serve the community's needs. —Anna Felicia Bajo/KBK, GMA News
