Bus firms told to explain for not plying routes outside of window hours
The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) issued show cause orders against provincial bus operators for not plying their routes outside the window hours.
According to Raffy Tima’s “24 Oras” report on Friday, provincial bus operators insisted on using their own terminals which led to confusion among passengers.
Among the bus operators that received show cause orders were Victory Liner, Bataan Transit, Five Star Bus Company, First North Luzon Transit, Maria de Leon and Genesis.
Genesis said it will submit an explanation to the LTFRB.
Many passengers were stranded in different terminals as operators implemented a 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. window hours for the departure and arrival of provincial buses without QR codes and special permits at private terminals in Metro Manila.
The LTFRB, however, clarified that the agreement by the operators and the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) states that beyond the window period, provincial buses may use selected integrated terminal exchange areas.
