MMDA targets to collect all campaign materials this week

The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) is targeting to remove and collect all campaign materials in the National Capital Region this week, Unang Balita reported on Thursday.

As of May 16, a total of over 470 tons of campaign materials used in the May 9 elections have been collected so far.

Environmental groups earlier warned that the additional garbage from campaign materials may aggravate flooding considering that PAGASA has already declared the start of the rainy season.

The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) on Tuesday called on the public to report campaign materials that are still posted as the deadline for their removal has already lapsed.

DILG Undersecretary Epimaco Densing III said LGUs that fail to remove all campaign materials in their areas will receive a notice from the department. —Joviland Rita/KBK, GMA News
