P2.3M worth of shabu seized from Bilibid visitor
A visitor to the New Bilibid Prison in Muntinlupa City was caught allegedly trying to smuggle over P2.3 million worth of shabu Sunday, the Southern Police District (SPD) said.
In a statement Monday, the SPD said the Bureau of Corrections’ (BuCor) Inmate Visitation Service Unit found four plastic bags containing 350 grams of shabu from a visitor identified as Raquel Zuñiga, 33.
The BuCor personnel discovered the substance while conducting body search to all visitors of the maximum security compound at the frisking area, according to the SPD.
Zuñiga will face a complaint for violation of Section 11 Article II of Republic Act 9165 or Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
SPD chief Police Brigadier General Jimili Macaraeg said they are in coordination with the BuCor and the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) to stop illegal drug activities in detention cells and facilities.
“The campaign on illegal drugs is our top priority. We will continue our partnerships with the BJMP and BuCor to strengthen our drive to prevent all opportunities for traffickers to continue peddling drugs” he said.—Joviland Rita/AOL, GMA News
