Part of Barangay Central Signal, Taguig declared danger zone after minor landslide
A portion of Damayan Area in Barangay Central Signal, Taguig City was declared a danger zone after a minor landslide occurred on Tuesday afternoon.
Residents in the area were advised to evacuate, according to a report by Mai Bermudez on GMA News' Unang Balita on Wednesday.
The minor landslide occurred at around 2 p.m. on Cuasay Road, according to the Taguig City local government.
Adobe and rocks fell on a grocery store.
According to the store owner, there were eight people inside the store when the incident happened.
At first they heard something solid falling on the roof, and then they ran out of the store as more rocks and soil fell, she said.
A 17-year-old saleslady had minor injuries and was taken to Taguig Pateros District Hospital. She has been discharged after treatment.
Local authorities said heavy rains the past few days may have have softened the ground and led to erosion, resulting in the minor landslide.
The City Engineering Office is scheduled to visit the area on Wednesday to assess the situation.
Local officials are encouraging residents to evacuate and are assisting them in the process. —KG, GMA News
