P43.5M worth of illegal drugs seized in QC buy-bust; 2 arrested


Some P43.5 million worth of illegal drugs were seized following a buy-bust operation in Cubao, Quezon City, on Wednesday, according to Darlene Cay's report on GMA News' Unang Balita.

Various kinds of illegal drugs including kush, shabu, cocaine, ecstasy, and cannabis oil were confiscated from a house on 16th Avenue in Barangay San Roque.

Personnel from Quezon City Police District (QCPD) Stations 7 and 2 arrested two suspects during the operation.

According to the police, the suspects used online transactions and online delivery services to move the illegal drugs to buyers.

The operation was a result of intelligence efforts of the police, the QCPD said.

In a statement, the QCPD  identified the suspects as  Riza Bilbao, 25, and Alvin Rapinian, 26.

Police responded to a report from a confidential informant  and conducted the joint buy-bust operation at around 2:30 a.m.  An undercover cop posed as a buyer.

The following items were seized from the suspects:

  • 1.5 kilo of shabu worth P10.2 million
  • more or less 85 kilo of marijuana worth P10.2 million
  • more or less 35 kilos of kush worth P4.9 million
  • one kilo of cocaine valued at P5.3 million
  • 7,594 pieces of ecstasy worth P12,909,800
  • two weighing scales
  • a cellular phone
  • the buy-bust money

The suspects will be charged for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, the QCPD said.

According to a report of Darlene Cay on GTV’s Balitanghali, the two-year-old child of the couple is now under the custody of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).—Joviland Rita/KBK/LBG, GMA News
