Vhong Navarro to remain under NBI custody on rape charge

Actor Vhong Navarro will remain under the custody of the National Bureau of Investigation after the Taguig Regional Trial Court on Monday afternoon handed down a warrant for his arrest for the non-bailable charge of rape.

According to Saleema Refran's report on "24 Oras", Navarro's camp confirmed at past 5 p.m. that the Branch 69 of the Taguig RTC released the warrant in connection with the rape rap filed by model Deniece Cornejo.

"Dahil hindi kami binigyan ng resolution ng regional trial court kungdi yung warrant of arrest lamang," said Navarro's lawyer Atty. Alma Mallonga.

"Kaya't bukas pa namin malalaman kung anong basehan n'ung pag-isyu ng warrant of arrest and definitely kami ay magsasampa ng motion for reconsideration dahil alam naman natin na walang absehan 'yung kasong ito," she added. 

Navarro earlier went to the NBI to post bail after the court issued a warrant for his arrest on a charge of acts of lasciviousness. —NB, GMA News
