LTFRB to address complaint of long lines at EDSA Bus Carousel

The Land Transportation and Franchising Regulatory Board said it would issue a regulation to ensure the continuous operation of the EDSA Bus Carousel so commuters will not have to endure long lines, according to a report on GMA News' Unang Balita on Tuesday.

This was after several passengers complained that they had to line up for a long time at the EDSA Bus Carousel the other night.

They said the dispatchers waited until 11 p.m. before passengers were allowed to board the buses so that they could charge the fare to the commuters.

The LTFRB confirmed it has earlier allowed the collection of bus fare at the EDSA Bus Carousel from 11 p.m. to 3 a.m. daily.

It explained that the government could no longer give free rides on the EDSA Bus Carousel for 24 hours so it allowed the fare box system.

The board also said there were fewer buses plying the route.

The “Libreng Sakay” program for the EDSA Bus Carousel is only available from 4 a.m. to 11 p.m. until December 2022. —Sherylin Untalan/KG, GMA News
