Police nab 4 alleged robbers in Quezon City


Authorities arrested four men allegedly involved in a robbery incident in Barangay Payatas, Quezon City, Nico Waje reported on “24 Oras Weekend” on Saturday.

Two Indian nationals were threatened with a gun and made to give up their cellphones and P18,000 in cash. The incident was promptly reported by the victims to the Quezon City Police Station 13.
 
Police carried out follow-up operations and were able to find the suspects thanks to CCTV footage.
 
The suspects were identified as Ninoy Aquino, Carlo Esponido, Jayruss Calzado, and Loreto Candelaria.
 
Victim Beant Singh said that this was only the first time the culprits had been apprehended out of the ten times he had been robbed in Payatas.
 
Another Indian national also claimed to have been victimized by the suspects.
 
Esponido admitted that he targets Indian nationals.
 
“May ano kasi kaming negasyo e binaon kami ng mga yan. Pag hindi mo nahulugan eh talagang kukulit kulitin ka,” said Esponido.

A meat vendor who was twice robbed by Calzado also reported him to the police.

Calzado said that he used the proceeds from the sale of meat to pay for his transportation to work.
 
Aquino and Candelaria denied being involved in the crime. However, the police believed they worked as a team.
