Two hurt after 8-vehicle road crash on Katipunan flyover in QC

At least two people sustained bruises after a road accident involving eight vehicles on Katipunan flyover in Barangay Escopa III, Quezon City on Tuesday morning, the police said.

Based on a report from the Quezon City Police District, a 10-wheeler truck was traversing the Katipunan flyover going to Boni Serrano Avenue when the driver “lost control.”

The truck hit an SUV that caused a “domino effect” and crashed into more vehicles, according to the police.

In an update, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) said the vehicles involved were three cars, two SUVs, a trailer truck, a taxi, and a delivery van.

The traffic became slow as two and a half lanes were occupied by the involved vehicles.

According to MMDA, the truck driver allegedly escaped from the scene but later on showed up.

The police said the concerned individuals were brought to the office of the District Traffic Enforcement Unit-Traffic Sector 3 for investigation and proper disposition.

Truck driver to face raps

In Marisol Abdurahman’s report on “24 Oras,” the victims recalled the incident.

“Mahaba po eh..basta mahaba po ang araro sa 'kin. Inano ng truck hanggang doon sa gilid ng barrier. Muntik na nga malaglag eh kung may nasabit doon sa barrier, laglag na sana sa mga kabahayan,” Rodelio Quesim, one of the victims, said.

Police said the truck driver, Franklin Caramihan, “lost control” of his vehicle, which caused the incident. He is now facing charges for reckless imprudence resulting in damage to property, the report said.

“Lost control ‘yung truck natin so nagkaroon ng karambola. May mga nasaktan pero ano naman sila lahat, slight lang naman,” said QCPD Traffic Sector-3 Commander Police Captain Aaron Ilao.
