Construction worker borrows son’s motorcycle to give habal rides, gets killed by passenger

A 59-year-old construction worker who borrowed his son’s motorcycle to provide paid rides as a habal-habal rider was shot and killed by one of his passengers in Pasig City.

According to Emil Sumangil’s report on “24 Oras”, CCTV footage showed the victim fall to the ground before the suspect stole the motorcycle and fled.

Authorities traced the location of the stolen vehicle in Taguig City after conducting backtracking.

Arrested from the scene was Rocky Manuel, the suspected guman; and two other suspects Russel Manuel and Ernest Osmeña who allegedly also used the motorcycle.

Police said the alleged gunman had been stealing motorcycles and was facing drug-related charges.

The suspects refused to comment when asked by GMA News.

“Nagtatrabaho po ito sa construction. And then noong wala po siyang trabaho, hiniram po niya sa anak niya itong motor. Kailangan daw po niya maghanap-buhay para mag habal-habal po,” Police Lieutenant Jason Lovendino said. —Sherylin Untalan/NB, GMA News
