Bomb threat disrupts classes in Taguig school

Afternoon classes in a school in Taguig City were suspended Monday due to a bomb threat, the police said.

Super Radyo dzBB's Jhomer Apresto reported that according to Taguig City Police chief Police Colonel Robert Baesa, a dummy account posted a threatening message on a Facebook live of Taguig City government.

Baesa said they immediately deployed police, Special Weapons and Tactics team, and bomb squad in the area to ensure the safety of the public. They secured the premises and checked the buildings and the vicinity for any explosive device.

The students and teachers of Signal Village National High School and EM’s Signal Village Elementary School were also ordered to go home.

The city government said no bomb or explosive was found during the sweeping operation, contrary to information spreading online.

The Department of Education-National Capital Region said classes will resume Tuesday.

It also appealed to the public to stop spreading unverified messages through social media that may cause undue fear and panic to the public.

It also advised school personnel, students, and parents to remain calm and follow school security protocols as it urged them to be vigilant and immediately report any untoward incident to authorities.

The Taguig police also coordinated with the Philippine National Police Anti-Cybecrime Group to identify the person behind the threat.—AOL, GMA Integrated News
