Court denies Deniece Cornejo’s motion to reverse bail grant for Vhong Navarro

A Taguig court has denied model Denice Cornejo’s motion to reconsider its order that granted actor and host Vhong Navarro’s plea for bail.

In a three-page order, Taguig Regional Trial Court Branch 69 Presiding Judge Loralie Datahan dismissed Cornejo’s motion for lack of merit.

The court said the filing of the motion has no conformity with the Office of the City Prosecutor of Taguig City.

Citing a previous ruling, the court said that when a public prosecutor does not give his or her conformity to the pleading of a party, the party does not have the required legal personality to pursue the case.

“In this case, there is no conformity from the public prosecutor. This circumstance was not denied by the private respondent. Private respondent merely claimed that the Office of the Prosecutor did not object to the filing of the Motion to Reconsider,” the court said.

In December 2022, the Taguig court allowed Navarro to post P1 million bail for his temporary liberty while the court is hearing the rape case against him.

In September, Taguig prosecutors filed a case against Navarro over the alleged rape of Cornejo through “force, threat, and intimidation” in January 2014.
