Six rushed to hospital due to alleged chlorine leak in Malabon

Six people were taken to the hospital due to alleged leak of chlorine in Malabon City on Friday.

According to Glen Juego's report on Super Radyo dzBB, the leak was from a warehouse in Bustamante Street, Barangay Tinajeros.

“Anim po ang nadala natin, may mga kids po. Sila po 'yung mga nasa likod mismo ng firewall ng shop. May two years old, five years old, tapos meron pong mga elderly po, may one year old din po,” barangay chairman Ryan Geronimo said.

The warehouse was used for oxygen supply stocks based on the initial investigation.

“Ang naging dahilan luma na at ‘di na gaanong nacheck hanggang sa nagleak at umamoy na naimbak na po for a long time,” he added.

Meanwhile, the authorities immediately went to the area for rescue operations and investigations.

“Under investigation pa rin 'yung cause bakit nagkaroon ng chlorine 'yung tubig, may tubig kasi na nakastock sa loob ng warehouse, positive to chlorine. So ngayon iniimbetigahan namin kung bakit nagkaroon ng chlorine 'yung naka-stock po doon,” a Bureau of Fire Protection officer interviewed by dzBB said.

Authorities said the residents are now safe to return to their houses, except for the families residing behind the warehouse.

“As of the moment clear na tayo, pwede na natin pabalikin ang ating mga residente. Based sa ating instumento, negative na siya sa bracket so anytime na tayo magpabalik,” the BFP officer added.—Sherylin Untalan/AOL, GMA Integrated News
