Bus on EDSA carousel catches fire, 2 hurt

A bus on the EDSA carousel busway in Makati City caught fire on Sunday night, causing injury to two passengers.

The accident occurred past 9 p.m. near the corner of EDSA and Ayala Avenue, according to a report by Nico Waje on Unang Balita on Monday.

Driver Roel Salarsa said he saw smoke first then fire, and so he stopped the bus and opened the door.

Passengers jostled each other on their way out, resulting in two commuters being injured.

A representative of the BovJen Bus Company said the passengers were brought to the hospital and the company will shoulder the medical costs.

The Bureau of Fire Protection-Makati City said it is still conducting an investigation to determine the cause of the fire. —KG, GMA Integrated News
