The wearing of face mask remains optional in Metro Manila despite the restrictions declared by some local government units, San Juan City Mayor and Metro Manila Council president Francis Zamora said Wednesday.
According to a Super Radyo dzBB report by Glen Juego, Zamora said the National Capital Region (NCR) remains under the low-risk category despite the increase of COVID-19 cases in the country.
Zamora added that Metro Manila mayors also discussed with the Department of Health (DOH) and said the hospital utilization rate is only 29% while the positivity rate is 25%.
But Zamora said the LGUs can reimplement the face mask policy through an Executive Order or an ordinance if needed, the report said.
Still, he urged the public to get vaccinated and take booster shots because this is still the key to fighting the virus. — Sherilyn Untalan/RSJ, GMA Integrated News
