NBI detainee facing drug, murder raps nabbed after ‘going on date’

A detainee of the National Bureau of Investigation was nabbed outside his cell after allegedly going on a date on Tuesday night.

According to John Consulta's report on "24 Oras", the investigation showed that Jose Adrian Dera, who's facing murder and drug raps, left his cell at 8 p.m.

NBI agents were waiting for him when he was arrested at past midnight on Wednesday.

He was with five NBI jail guards when nabbed.

On Sunday, Dera even went on a joyride to Tagaytay City with his girlfriend.

Dera said he had no comment when asked why he was leaving the NBI compound.

Dera's lawyer Atty. Raymond Palad said Dera left the NBI compound to be treated as he was not feeling well.

He was with NBI jail guards and used a marked vehicle of the bureau.

The Department of Justice is looking into the matter.

"[This] has revealed to us that there is this connivance between certain people in detention and those in the NBI that allow for them to temporarily go out of detention center," DOJ spokesman Mico Clavano said.

"This would not have happened if there was no connivance," he added. —NB, GMA Integrated News
