LRT1 Roosevelt station is now Fernando Poe Jr. station

The Roosevelt Station of the Light Rail Transit Line 1 (LRT1) was officially renamed on Sunday after the late King of Philippine Movies Fernando Poe Jr.

During the ceremonial unveiling of the new station signage, Senator Grace Poe, the actor's adopted daughter, stressed the contributions of Filipino artists to the nation.

(It is only now that artists in our society are being recognized for their contribution. Back then, they were just actors. Now we have a train stop named after one of them. FPJ will not be the last. Maybe next time, there will be another one from our industry.)

(FPJ has become a symbol to our citizens—whether you are a police officer, teacher, student, worker, all of us, we work hard and struggle every day to give our children a better future.)

It was in December 2021 when then-President Rodrigo Duterte signed Republic Act 11608, renaming Roosevelt Avenue to Fernando Poe Jr. Avenue. The street sign was put in place last December 2022.
