Awra Briguela files counter-affidavit to complaints over brawl

Awra Briguela filed a counter-affidavit on Wednesday in connection with the complaints she is facing due to the controversial brawl at a bar in Poblacion, Makati.

According to Oscar Oida's report on "24 Oras," Briguela lodged the counter-affidavit before the office of Makati Senior Assistant City Prosecutor Arvin Amata.

“We are filing a counter affidavit as an answer to the three cases, that’s it. We are not making any further comments as of this moment,” Awra’s lawyer said.

The camp of Christian Ravana — one of the personalities involved in the brawl — previously filed complaints of violation of Article 283 (light threats) under the Revised Penal Code, violation of Article 286 (grave coercion) under the RPC, and Violation of Section 11(c) in relation to Section 11(a) of the Safe Space Act against the 19-year-old actress.

These are on top of the slight physical injuries and simple disobedience to a person in authority charges Awra is facing. She was granted provisional liberty after posting bail of P6,000.

In June, Awra was taken to a police station in Makati after she got into an altercation with another customer outside The Bolthole Bar in Poblacion.

The complainant said Awra wanted him to take off his pants. He said Awra got upset when he refused. His group left the bar, and bouncers were seen in a video trying to restrain Awra from going after them.

The next scene was the scuffle between the two groups outside the bar.

The police arrived, and after the fight was broken up, they arrested Awra.

Awra's friend said the actress only tried to defend her after being touched inappropriately by a man, but the bar's bouncer claimed that no sexual harassment took place.

Meanwhile, Ravana’s camp said there was no settlement between the two parties.

“Wala pa namang ganun. We're not at that stage yet,” Lawyer Nick Nangit said.

Awra also filed counter-charges against Ravana and his cohort including violation of Section 1 of the Anti-Wire Tapping Act, slight physical injuries, and violation of the Safe Spaces Act.
