A 14-year-old student in Quezon City's Barangay Tatalon allegedly stabbed a Grade 12 schoolmate on Tuesday - the first day of school.

According to Marisol Abdurahman's report in 24 Oras, the victim said he was walking to school with a relative when the suspect suddenly bumped into them.

“‘Hoy umayos ka nga, first day of school ganiyan ka’. Tapos nagtawag po siya ng kasama niya. Tapos bigla na lang po akong sinipa nung nagkasagutan po kami, kasi tumalsik po yung kinakapatid ko sa akin,” said the victim.

Since he was hurt, he punched the suspect. However, the suspect's companions beat the victim until a teacher stopped them.

When the victim was sent home, the suspect allegedly stabbed him.

Meanwhile, the 14-year-old suspect said that he did not intentionally jostle the victim.

“Sabi niya, 'Mayabang ka ba? Nanga-gangster ka ba dito?' Sabi ko, 'Pasensya na hindi naman sinasadya.' Eh, madami pong tao noon, siksikan po. Kaya nabangga ko po siya. Tapos binugnog niya po ako. Hinawakan niya po yung damit ko sabay sipa niya po,” said the suspect.

He said the school's guidance office called them in. But only he and his mother came.

“Nakita ko po siya pauwi na po. Eh, nandilim po ‘yung paningin ko, kaya ko siya nasaksak, eh. Sobrang galit ko po,” he added.

According to the suspect's mother, they were willing to settle with the victim's family as she was afraid for her son's safety, especially since there were threats against him.

“Wala po siyang record sa baranggay na trouble. First time niya lang po talaga, wala naman po sa isip niya ‘yung ganoon. Siguro nasaktan na lang di ‘yung anak ko sa ginawa nila sa school. Kasi nung nakita ko siya, pinuntahan ko, pulang-pula ‘yung leeg eh,” she said.

However, the victim decided to file a complaint against the 14-year-old.

"Para hindi na po maulit sa iba ‘yung ginawa niya,” said the victim.

Authorities said the suspect may face charges of frustrated homicide or frustrated murder, depending on the result of the investigation. — Sherylin Untalan/DVM, GMA News
