Single ticketing system still on pilot run —MMDA
The Metro Manila Council (MMC) on Tuesday said that it is still fixing some requirements to set up digital payment platforms for the full implementation of the single ticketing system in the National Capital Region.
“Sa single ticketing system, tuloy-tuloy naman po yung pag-pipilot natin pero soon magfu-full implementation na tayo.” Metropolitan Manila Development Authority chairperson Romando Artes said in a press conference.
(The pilot implementation is still ongoing but we will have a full implementation soon.)
“May kaunting lamang pong inaayos which is maganda po habang kaunti pa yung nag-iimplement ay nakikita,” he added.
(We are just fixing some things, it is good we are already seein these issues while only few local governments are implementing it.)
San Juan City Mayor Francis Zamora, MMC president, said they are still working on determining the amount of bond in case the digital payment platforms fail to remit the collection of fines from motorists.
Zamora said the MMC is calling on digital payment platforms to have a unified bond for all 17 local government units in Metro Manila.
“Kanina po sa pagpupulong, yan po ang pinag-uusapan na magkaroon ng common amount ang bond for all 17 LGUs (Earlier in the meeting, it was discussed to have a common amount of bond for all LGUs),” he said.
“Kasi base sa nakikita natin ngayon kino-compute po nila doon sa average na huli o bayad ng mga violators per LGU. But if we do this it might take a lot of time,” he added.
(Based on what we observed, they have been computing the bond based on the average fines from violators per LGU. But if we do this it might take a lot of time.)
In August, the MMDA said the full rollout of the single ticketing system in the National Capital Region will start by September.
The single ticketing system aims to establish a uniform policy on traffic violations and penalty system in Metro Manila.
It will cover Caloocan, Malabon, Navotas, Valenzuela, Quezon City, Marikina, Pasig, Taguig, Makati, Manila, Mandaluyong, San Juan, Pasay, Parañaque, Las Piñas, Muntinlupa, and Pateros.—LDF, GMA Integrated News
