P1.6M worth of fake personal care products seized in NCR

The National Bureau of Investigation confiscated P1.6 million worth of counterfeit personal care products in an operation conducted at a warehouse in Parañaque City and a mall in Manila.

In a ''24 Oras'' report by John Consulta on Thursday, the NBI National Capital Region had received complaints from multiple companies about counterfeit products that allegedly had harmful effects on consumers.

During their operation, they were able to seize multiple boxes of fake shampoos, lotions, and perfumes that were similar to the original products.

Di nila alam naloloko na sila," said NBI-NCR Regional Director Rommel Vallejo.

The NBI warned the public against purchasing fake personal care products.

Sellers of the fake products will be charged with violating Republic Act 8293, or the Intellectual Property Code, while the items will be destroyed immediately to prevent them from being circulated in public. —Jiselle Casucian/VBL, GMA Integrated News
