MMDA releases alternate traffic routes for 2023 MMFF Parade of Stars
The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) has released alternate traffic routes for the 2023 Metro Manila Film Festival Parade of Stars on Saturday, December 16.
The MMDA said it will be implementing temporary closures during the parade’s expected three-hour, 8.7-kilometer route from the Navotas Centennial Park to the Valenzuela People’s Park.
"This year's Parade of Stars will traverse four cities [for the first time in MMFF history] as we want more people to have a glimpse of the casts of the 10 MMFF entries. With the expected influx of spectators and movie fans, we have prepared a traffic management plan to mitigate the effects on vehicular flow," said MMDA Acting Chairman and concurrent MMFF Over-all Chairman Don Artes.
Temporary lane closures and counterflow will be implemented in the following roads from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Dec.16:
• C-4 Road (from Navotas Centennial Park to A Mabini St.)
• Samson Road (from A. Mabini St. to Monumento Circle)
• MacArthur Highway (from Monumento Circle to C. Santos Street)
Motorists were advised to take the following routes:
• From Malabon to Navotas, take Gov. Pascual and M. H. Del Pilar Street
• Motorists heading to Monumento may take Gov. I Santiago Road, M. H. Del Pilar Street, and Samson Road
• Motorists may also take North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) northbound and southbound
The parade will pass through C4, Samson Road, and McArthur Highway which may cause heavy traffic in these areas.
The MMDA has partnered with the local government units of participating cities Caloocan, Malabon, Navotas, and Valenzuela, the Philippine National Police (PNP), the Office of Civil Defense – NCR (OCD NCR) and other concerned agencies to maintain the proper order during the event by deploying a total of 1,000 personnel on the ground.
The Metro Manila Film Festival is an annual movie festival hosted by the MMDA “to promote and enhance the preservation of Philippine Cinema.”In partnership with the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office, the film festival will be shown in cinemas from December 25 to January 7 and will showcase 10 Filipino movies spanning several genres.
