Man in QC arrested for indiscriminate firing amid New Year revelry

A security guard was arrested for alleged indiscriminate firing of a handgun in Barangay Baesa, Quezon City amid the New Year revelry, the police said.

In a statement released on Tuesday, the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) identified the suspect as 44-year-old Boy Bagua.

He was arrested after a concerned citizen reported about an incident of indiscriminate discharge of firearms.

"During the arrest, it was observed that the suspect was evidently under the influence of alcohol, and a handgun was visibly tucked into his waist," the QCPD said.

A .38-cal. Special pistol loaded with a fired cartridge case and four live rounds of ammunition were recovered from Bagua.

From Dec. 16, 2023 to Jan. 1, 2024, a total of 13 individuals have been arrested due to illegal discharge of firearms, the Philippine National Police (PNP) said. — VDV, GMA Integrated News
