Taguig gov't says Makati City personnel lied in complaints

The local government of Taguig said the Makati City employees who filed a complaint against Taguig Mayor Lani Cayetano and others lied in their sworn affidavits.

According to a "24 Oras" report on Friday, the employees were only being used by the Makati local government over the two cities' row over territory.

Earlier, four Makati government employees filed complaints for illegal detention and grave coercion against Cayetano and others before the Taguig City Prosecutor’s Office.

The employees said Cayetano ordered their detention on separate occasions on March 1, 2 and 3.

They said several individuals chained and padlocked the gate and blocked the entrances to the Makati Park and Garden. Some of the employees were also trapped for several hours at the Makati Aqua Sports Arena.

The Taguig government said it would issue a formal response to the complaint once it receives a copy. —Jiselle Anne Casucian/LDF, GMA Integrated News
