More than 100 patients evacuated after fire broke out in PGH


At least 100 patients had to be evacuated on Saturday night when fire broke out at the Philippine General Hospital in Ermita, Manila, according to a report by Super Radyo dzBB.

The fire raged for only 20 minutes before firemen were able to put out the fire.

According to Fire Superintendent Leo Andiso, deputy district fire marshall of the Manila Fire Department, the fire affected the former X-ray room which has been used to store medicines.

Smoke was also detected in the emergency room.

Fire out was declared at 11:36 p.m.

The Bureau of Fire Department is still determining the cause of the fire.

Most of the affected patients were already brought back to their rooms as of Saturday morning, security personnel said, according to a report by Carlo Mateo on Super Radyo dzBB.
