Woman strangled to death by aunt's ex-partner in Mandaluyong, police say
A 24-year-old woman in Mandaluyong City was strangled to death by her aunt's former live-in partner, investigation by the city police showed.
According to Emil Sumangil's report Thursday on 24 Oras, the victim was found dead inside her aunt's house in Barangay Addition Hills in Mandaluyong City last June 1.
Mandaluyong police chief Police Colonel Grace Madayag said the victim stayed with her aunt so she could report for work.
The police said that the victim had confided that she felt uncomfortable with the suspect's apparent desire for her.
"Nagsumbong siya sa kanyang tiyahin, so du'n nagdesisyon ang tiyahin na maghiwalay sana sila," said Madayag. "Eh 'yung gabing 'yun, galit na galit (siya), lasing na bumalik sa kanilang tinitirhan."
(She told her aunt about it and the latter decided to break up with the suspect. This infuriated the suspect and he returned to the house drunk.)
Based on initial police investigation, the victim was strangled using a blanket which was left wrapped around her head.
Although her top clothing appeared to be raised, investigators said that there was no evidence of rape.
Authorities were able to locate the suspect in Manila with the help of a witness.
The alleged perpetrator, who works as a tricycle driver, has yet to give a statement as of posting time. He was charged for attempted rape and murder. — Vince Angelo Ferreras/ VDV, GMA Integrated News
