Rape suspect arrested in Tarlac after 17 years on the run

A rape suspect was arrested in Tarlac after 17 years of hiding, according to Jamie Santos’ report in Saksi on Wednesday. 

The report said the suspect was arrested through intelligence efforts by authorities.

“Na-locate natin siya through social media exploitation. Gumamit tayo ng iba’t-ibang paraan, to the point na nagpadala pa tayo ng pera sa kanya just to confirm na siya ay nandoon,” said Manila Police District director Brigadier General Thomas Ibay.

(We located him through social media exploitation. We also used various tactics, to the point that we sent money to him just to confirm his location.)

The MPD said they pursued the suspect to give justice to his victim who is also his cousin. 

The report said the suspect is now detained at MPD headquarters. The police are just awaiting his commitment order from the court for his transfer to city jail, it added. —Vince Angelo Ferreras/RF, GMA Integrated News
