Man killed after snatching mic from suspect in videoke bar

A man was fatally stabbed after he allegedly snatched a microphone from the suspect in a videoke bar in Pasig City.
In Emil Sumangil’s exclusive report on 24 Oras on Monday, CCTV footage showed that a woman attempted to intervene in a heated confrontation between two men.
However, the suspect refused to be pacified and stabbed the victim before fleeing the scene.
The mortally wounded victim fell to the floor where he died.
Police Colonel Hendrix Mangaldan, Pasig Police chief, said the suspect hid from authorities but was found and arrested in Manila.
“Nagsimula lang ito sa simpleng away hanggang sa umabot sa homicide case (It started from a simple fight that led to a homicide case),” Mangaldan said.
Investigation revealed a drunken argument turned deadly when the suspect began fighting with the victim who allegedly snatched the microphone from him.
“Gusto nilang angkinin yung kanta na hindi naman sa kanila. Nung hindi ko binigay ang mic binato-batukan ako, sabi niya susunod, huwag mo na gagawin yun ha,” the suspect said.
(They wanted to sing a song that was not theirs. When I did not pass him the microphone, he started hitting me on the head, saying that I should not do it again.)
He added that the victim not only cursed him but also humiliated him in front of many people.
“Binatok-batukan ako tapos sinakal. Nainsulto ako. Marami ako kasama, napahiya rin ako,” the suspect said.
(He did not only hit me but also strangled me. I was humiliated in front of my companions.)
After his arrest, the suspect said he regretted his actions and asked for forgiveness.
