6-year old girl in critical condition after being attacked by playmate’s mother
A six-year old girl in Caloocan City is in critical condition after her playmate’s mother allegedly assaulted her.
In Maki Pulido’s Monday report on “24 Oras,” the victim’s family is seeking justice for “Elisia” (not her real name) who underwent an operation for eight hours to remove a blood clot in her head.
“Alagang-alaga namin yun ma’am kaya sobrang sakit na ganun yung gagawin niya. Halos hindi ko makilala ‘yung pamangkin ko kasi namamaga ‘yung mukha, namamaga ‘yung mata. Tapos ang daming pasa. Nakakapanlumo kasi hindi nga namin sinasaktan ‘yung bata tapos ganun ‘yung gagawin sa kaniya,” the victim’s aunt said.
(We loved her dearly, so it pains us to see her in that condition. I hardly recognized her because her face and eyes are swollen. She also has a lot of bruises. It's disheartening because we never hurt my niece, but she had to experience this.)
According to police, Elisia’s playmate narrated how her mother allegedly hurt the victim.
“Biglang pumasok daw yung mother niya then inuntog ulo kalaro niya sa bowl, four times daw. Then binuhat, inangat, then hinampas sa bowl,” said Police Captain Romel Caburog, Substation 8 commander of the Caloocan Philippine National Police.
(The mother suddenly entered the room and hit the victim’s head on the bowl four times. She lifted the victim’s head and hit it on the bowl.)
The victim’s father was distressed after Elisia's playmate told him how her mother attacked his daughter.
He also said he was relieved when his daughter’s condition improved after the operation, but Elisia has to remain confined in the ICU.
“First baby ko po kasi. Good condition na po siya sana magtuloy tuloy po kasi hinahanap na kami lahat gusto na raw niya umuwi,” the victim’s father said.
(She’s my first baby. She’s in good condition and hopefully, her recovery continues. She is looking for us because she wants to go home.)
The suspect is in police custody and refused to comment on the incident. She is facing frustrated homicide charges.
The woman was not cooperating with the authorities, so her motive is still unclear.
Caburog said initial investigation showed that the suspect has a record of a mental disorder.
“Kung anuman dahilan niya, for me, hindi reasonable ‘yun to do that sa pamangkin ko. Baby ko yun. Baby namin yun. Sobrang sakit. Sobrang sakit sa amin. Lumalaban pa rin siya. Lumalaban siya sa buhay niya,” Elisia’s aunt said.
(Whatever her reason is, there was no reason for her to do what she did to my niece. She’s our baby. What happened to her hurt us. She’s still fighting for her life.) —Mariel Celine Serquiña/RF, GMA Integrated News
