Fire hits residential area in Maypajo, Caloocan

A fire broke out before dawn on Wednesday in a residential area in Maypajo, Caloocan City.

The fire started before 3 a.m. in Purok 4 and 5 of Barangay 28, according to a report by Jhomer Apresto on Unang Balita.

It quickly spread, prompting the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) to raise the second alarm.

Eight firetrucks responded to the alarm.

The firetrucks had difficulty getting to the area due to the vehicles that were illegally parked.

The fire was finally put out at 5:40 a.m.

Some residents who sought shelter in the barangay hall said they were not able to save any of their belongings.

No one was hurt in the incident.

The BFP said investigation is ongoing to determine the cause of the fire, but an overheating electric fan is one of the angles it is looking into.

The bureau is also still determining the estimated cost of property damage. —KG, GMA Integrated News
