114 detained online loan app workers to be transferred to BJMP facility

The 114 employees of an online lending app arrested in a raid in Makati City will be transferred to a facility of the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP), according to a report of GMA Integrated News’ Unang Balita on Wednesday.

Currently, the nabbed workers are in the detention facility of the Presidential Anti-Organized Crime Commission (PAOCC) as authorities wait for a commitment order from the Makati City Regional Trial Court.

PAOCC executive director Gilbert Cruz said the court denied the petition of the detained employees to reduce the P250,000 bail for each of them into half.

The employees are facing cases for the violation of the Data Privacy Act after they allegedly harassed and intimidated some users of the online lending app.

A total of 131 workers were arrested in the raid on the hub of the online lending application in Makati City on January 31.

However, 17 of them agreed to serve as witness so authorities did not file a case against them, according to the report. —Joviland Rita/AOL, GMA Integrated News
