Four dead in fire that hit residential area in Pasay
Four people died and two were injured in a fire that hit a residential area in Barangay 177 in Malibay, Pasay City on Saturday morning.
Initially, two were reported dead and one was missing, according to Senior Fire Officer 1 Resmond Germino, chief public information officer of the Pasay City Fire Station, in an interview on Dobol B TV.
However at past 10 a.m., Germino said four bodies were already retrieved: a mother, her 7-year-old son, 14-year-old "pamangkin", and her brother-in-law, according to a report by GMA Integrated News' Bea Pinlac.
Two residents had minor injuries — one, a first-degree burn, and the other sustained a wound on the feet, Germino added.
The fire broke out before dawn in a row of houses on Esteban Street near the creek and what residents call Flores Tulay, according to a report by Mao dela Cruz on Dobol B TV.
It quickly spread as the houses were made of light materials.
The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) raised the third alarm as the fire grew.
