QCPD director Buslig relieved from post
Quezon City Police District director Police Brigadier General Melecio Buslig Jr. has been relieved from his post, according to the QCPD Public Information Office.
QCPD said it received a letter dated April 21 signed by National Capital Region Police Office Regional Director Police Major General Anthony Aberin about the matter, according to a report by Allan Gatus on Dobol B TV.
Police Colonel Randy Glenn Silvio, deputy director for administration, has been tasked to be the officer-in-charge of the QCPD.
In a statement, the Philippine National Police (PNP) said that Buslig was relieved due to command responsibility after one of his police officers was accused of abuse.
“This is not just a case of misconduct—it is a disgraceful betrayal of the people’s trust. Let this be clear: we will not allow any abusive officer to hide behind the badge,” PNP chief Police General Rommel Marbil said.
“If you harm the people you swore to protect, you will be arrested, prosecuted, and expelled from the service. No second chances. No exceptions,” he added.
A police officer seen in a viral video allegedly committing abuse and harassment while drunk was arrested on Monday, according to the Quezon City Police District (QPCD).
The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) said the cop forcibly entered the house of the complainant in Barangay Damayan, Quezon City early Monday morning. —with a report from Joviland Rita/KG/AOL, GMA Integrated News
