Truck hits NLEX toll booth

A truck hit a toll booth in one of the RFID lanes at the Paso de Blas southbound exit of the North Luzon Expressway on Wednesday evening.

According to Tina Panganiban Perez’s report on Super Radyo dzBB on Thursday, NLEX Traffic and Safety Officer Robin Ignacio said that no one was hurt from the incident as there was no teller in the booth and the truck driver was fine.

The truck driver’s assistant said that the former was not even sleepy when the incident happened at 11:34 p.m. But he claimed that the road was uneven which caused their vehicle to overturn and hit the booth.

For its part, the NLEX management defended that there would have been similar incidents if there were really something wrong with the RFID lane.

It added that the driver could have miscalculated the distance of the trailer's backload to the toll booth.

The dismantled toll booth has already been cleared, but the affected lane remains impassable.

On the other hand, the truck has yet to be cleared while awaiting rescue.

The NLEX management turned over the matter to the Valenzuela City Police for investigation. — Vince Angelo Ferreras/BM, GMA Integrated News
