Free MRT-3, LRT-2 rides for solo parents on April 26, 2025

Solo parents are entitled to free rides at the Metro Rail Transit-3 and the Light Rail Transit-2 on Saturday, April 26, 2025 in celebration of the National Solo Parents Week, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) said on Friday. 

According to Myla Monsod of DSWD’s Strategic Communications Office, the free rides are available from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. 

Solo parents who want to avail of the freebie must present their Solo Parent ID. 

A solo parent ID can be obtained in local DSWD offices. In order to qualify for the ID, among the eligibilities include: raising children because of spouse’s death, abandonment, separation, etc.; rape victim; spouse of an individual who is in jail; or the partner is not mentally capable. 

Among the benefits of having a Solo Parent ID include an additional seven-day vacation leave from work; livelihood assistance, psychological assistance, and educational assistance for children.—Vince Angelo Ferreras/LDF, GMA Integrated News
