PUVs in QC issued ticket for failing road-worthiness assessments

PUVs in QC issued ticket for failing road-worthiness assessments

The Transportation Department’s Special Action and Intelligence Committee for Transportation (DOTr-SAICT) issued tickets to public utility vehicles (PUVs) that failed the road-worthiness assessments in Muñoz, Quezon City on Tuesday.

According to Allan Gatus Super Radyo Dzbb report, DOTr-SAICT checked city and provincial buses, including those that ply along Monumento, Quezon City.

Some bus drivers received a road ticket for having worn-out tires.

The issuance of tickets includes the Quezon City local government unit’s “libreng sakay” bus, on which passengers were told to get off.

The DOTr-SAICT also caught some PUVs with broken signal lights and wipers.

The agency also observed that some drivers do not follow rules, as some load and unload passengers in prohibited areas.

To recall, Transportation Secretary Vince Dizon directed the Land Transportation Office (LTO) and the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) to do a road-worthiness assessment on PUVs due to the recent vehicle accidents. — Mariel Celine Serquiña/BAP, GMA Integrated News
