NAIA car crash victims died due to blunt force trauma —autopsy results
The Philippine National Police - Aviation Security Group (AVSEGROUP) has revealed the cause of death of the two victims in the car crash at the Ninoy International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 1 in Pasay City.
“Autopsy results confirmed that the 29-year-old victim died due to blunt force trauma to the head and spinal cord; his remains are currently in Hagonoy, Bulacan for his funeral wake,” AVSEGROUP said in a statement on Tuesday evening.
“The minor, who also died of blunt force trauma to the head and left lower extremities, is now in Lipa City, Batangas for her wake,” it added.
On Sunday, an SUV driven by a 47-year-old man from Batangas crashed into the Departure West Curbside Area of NAIA Terminal 1, according to AVSEGROUP.
Two people died in the incident. Several people were also injured. Two of them remain confined in stable condition, while the other two have been discharged.
Personnel from NAIA Police Station 1 arrested the suspect at the scene.
After a series of tests and medical evaluations, the suspect’s alcohol and drug tests yielded negative results while his physical examination showed no visible injuries at the time.
The suspect, detained at the Mobile Patrol Security Unit Detention Facility, is facing a criminal complaint for reckless imprudence resulting in homicide, multiple physical injuries, and damage to property under the Revised Penal Code.
“AVSEGROUP assures the public that justice will be pursued with the full extent of the law. We remain steadfast in our commitment to safeguarding lives and maintaining peace and order within airport premises,” AVSEGROUP said.
“Coordination with airport authorities and other concerned agencies is ongoing to ensure a thorough and impartial investigation into the incident,” it added.
The father of the minor who died in the incident is seeking justice. Danmark Masongsong, an overseas Filipino worker, said he still could not believe that Malia, his four-year-old daughter, was gone.
The other fatality, identified as 29-year-old Dearick Faustino, was at NAIA last Sunday where he was supposed to travel to Dubai for a business trip
