Army prepares contingency force in NCR for Eleksyon 2025
In preparation for the May 12 midterm elections, the Philippine Army has mobilized 329 soldiers to serve as a contingency force to maintain peace and order in the National Capital Region.
The contingency force consists of Civil Disturbance Management (CDM), K-9, Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD), Medical, and Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear (CBRN) teams.
A total of 31 assets, including military trucks and ambulances, are also on standby for any contingency. Further, all Philippine Army Emergency Response Companies (ERCs) were placed under Blue Alert Status from May 11 to May 14, 2025, to address any contingency during the election period.
Various Philippine Army Major Units (PAMUs) have also deployed 23,591 personnel to perform election duties across the country, while another 21,509 personnel were placed on standby alert as of Friday.
“We are committed to maintaining national stability by continuing our operations against threat groups while also assisting with the transport of poll materials and ensuring the safety of election personnel,” said Army Chief Lieutenant General Roy Galido. — VBL, GMA Integrated News
