Santos tops Cynthia Villar in Las Piñas congressional race 


Independent candidate Mark Anthony Santos has topped Senator Cynthia Villar in the race for Las Piñas City lone district representative, based on the unofficial count of the Commission on Elections. 

With 100% election returns in the city processed as of 11:24 p.m., Santos garnered 115,757 votes against the 83,975 votes of Villar. 

Meanwhile, Louie Redoble trailed behind at third with 36,838 votes and Barry Tayam had 9,768 votes. 

Santos is currently a councilor in Las Piñas City. 

Meanwhile, Villar’s niece and nephew battled for the mayoralty post.

April Aguilar is set to replace his mother, Imelda, as the city mayor with 124,780. Trailing behind is her cousin Carlo Aguilar with 85,324. 

Imelda is expected to continue working for the city but as a vice mayor with 131,404 votes. —LDF, GMA Integrated News
