LTO: Over 100 driving schools suspended over violations
More than 100 driving schools have been suspended over the past two weeks for various violations, the Land Transportation Office (LTO) reported Thursday.
"We have already suspended around 107 driving schools just in the last two weeks. Nahuhuli, na-audit trail namin 'yan in various regions nationwide," LTO chief Assistant Secretary Vigor Mendoza II said in a press conference.

"Wala nang takas ngayon. Malinaw ang instruction sa amin ng ating [Transportation Secretary Vince Dizon] at [President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.]. Hinihigpitan po 'yan. Wala nang lulusot," he added.
(There is no escape now. Our Secretary and President have given us clear instructions. We are now strict. There is no escape.)
The suspended driving schools are located in Central Luzon, Calabarzon, and Metro Manila.
According to Mendoza, the common violation is no-show or non-compliance with the proper theoretical driver's training.
Show cause orders have been issued to these driving schools to explain their side, Mendoza added.
Meanwhile, Transportation Secretary Vince Dizon said the Department of Transportation (DOTr) this week had a meeting with concerned groups to discuss recommendations for road safety.
"Maraming kailangan ayusin sa sistema," Dizon said.
(There is a lot that needs to be fixed in the system.)
"Ang sabi ng Pangulo, para sa kapakanan at safety ng ating mga kababayan na araw-araw nasa kalye tulad nating lahat, kailangan natin once and for all baguhin ang sistema dito sa ating road safety," he added.
