3-year-old girl ran over by tricycle in Manila
A three-year-old girl needs to undergo an operation after she was ran over by a tricycle in Sta. Cruz, Manila.
According to Ian Cruz’s report in “24 Oras” on Friday, CCTV footage showed that the girl was playing with other kids on Felix Huertas Street on Thursday afternoon. It can be seen that the girl followed a boy until she was hit by a tricycle.
The tricycle stopped abruptly causing it to tumble, hitting and trapping the child underneath the vehicle.
Nearby residents rushed to rescue the girl, who was immediately brought to the hospital by members of her family.
CCTV footage showed the driver became emotional. Barangay officials said that bystanders ganged up on him.
The girl is currently in the hospital for treatment after suffering head injuries.
“May mga crack-crack po kasi yung ulo niya eh nung tinahi po kasi ulo nya halos kita na bungo dito po,” said Paula Rica Magtibay, the victim’s mother, adding that her daughter is also suffering bleeding on her liver.
The three tricycle passengers also suffered minor injuries.
The barangay is now mulling installing humps on the street to help prevent such incidents from happening again.
Meanwhile, the Manila Police District is already investigating the incident while the family of the victim and the tricycle driver made an agreement.
However, the victim’s mother cannot contact the tricycle driver.
“Kung sakali man po hindi po nila matupad ang mga pinangako nila sa akin, ora mismo ipakukulong ko po sya,” said Magtibay.
GMA Integrated News reached out to the driver. But according to his wife, he was busy looking for blood donors for the victim’s operation. — Vince Angelo Ferreras/BAP, GMA Integrated News
