3 arrested for alleged ‘akyat bahay’ at QC church compound
Three suspects were arrested after they allegedly stole copper tubes of air conditioning units inside a church compound in Barangay Bungad in Quezon City.
Over the weekend, the three men were caught in a CCTV footage unloading the copper tubes from a tricycle early morning, according to a report of GMA Integrated News’ James Agustin on Unang Balita on Monday.
The complainant, who is a church worker, called the 911 police hotline after seeing three men in the live CCTV footage through a phone around 2 a.m., according to the police.
The suspects were nabbed in a manhunt operation. However, the police were unable to recover the stolen copper tubes.
Authorities said the three suspects had previous cases for robbery, gun law violation, and illegal drugs.
The suspects denied the allegations.
“Hindi ko po magagawa yun. Pinara lang po ako ng mga pasahero na hindi ko kilala,” one of the suspects said.
(I can’t do that. I was just flagged down by passengers I didn’t know.)
“Wala akong kinalaman doon. Ako po yung may-ari ng tricycle talaga. Pinapabiyahe ko lang siya,” another suspect said.
(I had nothing to do with that. I’m the real owner of the tricycle. I am just letting him use it.)
“Hindi po ako doon kasama. Wala po akong alam doon,” the third arrested suspect said.
(I wasn’t involved. I don’t know anything about that.)
The three suspects are now facing robbery complaint, according to the police. —Joviland Rita/AOL, GMA Integrated News
