Motorists, commuters endure floods in Metro Manila

Motorists and commuters alike were stranded on Monday as several areas in Metro Manila were flooded due to the inclement weather.

According to Chino Gaston in “24 Oras”, many students faced difficulty getting to their homes since Araneta Ave. in Quezon City was impassable due to floodwaters.

Some residents in the area required rescue when the flood reached above head level.

Sto Domingo and E. Rodriguez Streets were also flooded due to the continuous heavy rain.

In Mark Salazar’s report, only large vehicles could pass via MacArthur Highway in Valenzuela City as the flood reached gutter to knee deep level.

Some residents in Dario Bridge in Quezon City were evacuated when the level of the San Juan River rose to dangerous levels.

Some students in Malabon City also found difficulty getting home along C4 Road due to the inclement weather.

However, in P. Aquino St. in Malabon, children were seen playing in the rain and swimming in garbage-strewn floodwater.

Vehicular traffic along EDSA Balintawak Northbound was bumper to bumper since motorists were limited to two to three lanes due to some parts of the road being flooded.

In Bernadette Reyes’ report, the gutter-deep flood impeded traffic along Commonwealth Ave.
